Bulls Lose Out On Gordon

Apparently the Bulls felt they’d be just fine without Ben Gordon, because not only did they let him walk, they let him walk to a divisional rival without even making an offer. Now their leading scorer from a season ago is off to Detroit to join the Pistons and the Bulls did very little to try and prevent it. Where do they go from here? If Kirk Hinrich isn’t traded, it looks as if he’ll be getting more playing time, as well John Salmons. It’ll be interesting to see how they’ll respond to not having Gordon’s clutch shooting on the floor in crucial situations of the game. He showed in that entire first round series against the Celtics that he is deserving of the contract he desired and the Pistons agreed, the Bulls still begged to differ.

With the draft that the Bulls had (selecting two power forwards), maybe Tyrus Thomas’ time in Chicago is limited and perhaps they could use him to land another scoring guard. It’s still uncertain on how they’ll approach the rest of the off-season. One thing that is for certain is that they lack an explosive scorer with Gordon not there and although they possess a balanced team, you still need someone who is reliable to go out there and have a big game when it’s desperately needed. If they want to be competitive this season, they’ll have to find someone who fits that description.
