Ben Gordon: What Is His Worth To The Bulls?

Not too long ago, Chicago offered Ben Gordon an extension worth slightly more than $50 Mill to remain with the Bulls, but he declined feeling he was worth as much as the likes of his teammate Luol Deng and Sixers guard Andre Iguodala, who both got in the $70 Mill range offers. Gordon then proceeded to have one of his best seasons as scorer with the Bulls as he averaged 20.7 PPG, his second highest average in his short career. Little did we know, that was only the beginning for the guard. He burst onto the playoff scene against the Boston Celtics in the first round hitting huge shot after huge shot and ended up leading the Bulls in scoring during the post-season, average more than he did in the regular season. On the floor, we know what Gordon brings to the Bulls and that’s a valuable shooter who they cannot afford to lose, but what will they be willing to offer him?

Will Chicago attempt to offer him another $50 Million contract? Will one of the teams with cap room attempt to pursue the streaky, but deadly shooter? One thing is for certain though, regardless of who is on the Bulls roster, none of them can shoot the ball like Ben Gordon and the Bulls front office know that very well. With Gordon becoming an unrestricted free agent this off-season, the chance of him leaving is even higher and they cannot afford to lose him, even if it does mean raising their offer to accommodate his liking.
